EZ-TUNNEL-FIT curve-fits basic enzyme kinetic models (e.g. Michaelis-Menten, Hill, Compet., Noncompet., Uncompet., and Mixed equations) to dose-response data by minimising the residual sum-of-squares using a stochastic "tunnelling" search and "steepest descent" optimization..

The Tunneling Method for Global Optimization is a stochastic coordinate-descent perturbation method used in optimization algorithms to help escape local minima. It systematically shifts a single decision variable away from its baseline using a combination of deterministic grid steps and random scaling.

The Steepest Descent routine uses finite-difference approximations to numerically deduce gradients when optimizaing an objective function.
